Who Uses GIS?

Applications of GIS technology is currently diverse, but has historically been used mainly in the environmental field. Extensive use of GIS is presently being applied in cultural resources preservation, health, transportation, planning and many other sectors. In addition to non-profit organizations, the GIS user community consists of all levels of governmental agencies, academia and industry, especially businesses involved in engineering applications.
