Education

Education is an essential component of URWA's mission, with a goal to help people connect with nature and increase environmental awareness throughout the watershed region. Teaching children about the wonders of the outdoors, offering advice and sound management practices to landowners and providing objective information and data to guide municipal land use planning are examples of how URWA is working to secure the future through environmental education.

To accomplish our mission, URWA offers outreach programs in area schools, field trips at Fairview Farm, family programs, a summer nature day camp, community service projects and educational materials for public events. Many of our activities and programs are carried out with the cooperation and support of the NJDEP's AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassadors Program and URWA's Natural Science Committee. With the coordination of these efforts, we are able to offer a variety of education programs as well as stewardship projects, including tree plantings, stream monitoring and cleanups, among others. Visit our stewardship link for more information on these projects.
